Security
From eHive
The security of your account and your data is essential. eHive has various methods in place to ensure that security is not compromised.
Security on eHive
- Sign In passwords have a minimum length of six characters and must include letters and numbers. This means that simple passwords that could be easily determined or hacked cannot be used.
- The Sign In screen uses a secure and encrypted webpage (HTTPS) so that passwords are not viewable. As a result, you (and others) will not be able to see your password as you type it on the Sign In page.
- eHive servers are secured so that only standard web access is allowed. This prevents external access to other software and commands on the server.
Data Protection
- All data is is stored on multiple hard disks to allow eHive to continue running in case of a hardware failure.
- The data centre which runs eHive has redundant power systems, generator back up, redundant air conditioning and multiple independent connections to the Internet. The data centre also uses closed circuit monitoring, card key access and 24-hour guards.
- Data is backed up to a different geographic location to preserve data during an extreme event, such as a fire at the data centre.
- The entire content (text and media files) is backed up daily, weekly and monthly and these backups are held as archive copies of the site.
Escrow
Vernon Systems has a source code escrow agreement in place. The source code of the eHive software is held by an independent agent similar to how other escrow companies hold cash during real estate transactions. The source code will be released by the agent to the eHive community if Vernon Systems is no longer trading.
All of these features ensure that your account and your data is well-secured.
